MISSION STATEMENT

At Journey we love Jesus, we love people, and we have to go to Heaven and take as many people with us as possible. So enjoy the Journey, but don't enjoy it alone.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

PURPOSE

Our purpose is to bring people to Jesus Christ and help them become fully committed followers of Him.

BIBLICAL BELIEFS

  • God is the only God and is the Creator of everything. (Genesis 1; John 1:1-3)
  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was born among us, crucified on a cross, and raised from death by God. Jesus Christ is our personal Lord and Savior, forgives us of our sins, and is the leader of our lives. (John 1:14; John 3:16-18)
  • God’s forgiveness comes through Christ alone and is a gift from God because of His grace and love. (2 Corinthians 5:14; Ephesians 2:4)
  • The Holy Spirit is God’s Spirit and is present and active in the daily lives of Christians. He directs us and helps us live a Christ-like life. (John 16:5-16; Romans 8:9-11)
  • The Bible is God’s Word and is the authority and guide for all that we say and all that we do. (Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Baptism, as taught and practiced by Jesus, is by immersion in water symbolizing His own death, burial, and resurrection. It symbolizes the believer's commitment to follow Him. (Mark 1:9-13; Romans 6:1-11)
  • Christ is the head of the church. We submit ourselves and all our activities to His will as we are led by the Bible and His Spirit. (Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 5:23)
  • Because immersed Christians are united in a dynamic relationship with Christ, they are also united with one another and therefore enjoy the privilege of church membership. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
  • As was the custom of the church in the New Testament, the observance of the Lord’s Supper is shared weekly among followers of Jesus Christ. (Acts 20:7; Luke 22:7-22)
  • Resurrection from the dead to eternal life with Christ is for all Christians. (1 Corinthians 15:50-58)

WORSHIP

Through our worship we acknowledge, honor, and praise God for all He has done, is doing, and will do in the future. (Romans 12:1-2)

BIBLICAL TEACHING

We strive to teach God’s Word with integrity and authority so that those who seek Christ will find Him, and believers will grow in maturity in their faith. (2 Timothy 3:16)

PRAYER

We rely on individual and corporate prayer in the conception, planning, and execution of all the ministries and activities of this church. (Matthew 7:7-11)

RELATIONSHIPS

We ask all our people to be involved in the communities where they live. In this way, they will deepen their relationships with others in the body of Christ. (Acts 2:44-46)

FAMILY

We are committed to helping people build strong Christian marriages and healthy Christian families, whether single-parent or two-parent families. Our desire is that faith be passed down from generation to generation. (Ephesians 5:22-33; Deuteronomy 6:1-9)

NON-CHRISTIANS

We value and love people who do not yet believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. We use every available, Christ-honoring means to pursue, win, and disciple them. (Luke 19:10)

GIFTEDNESS

We strive to help each person discover their unique God-given gifts and help them use those gifts to God’s glory. (Romans 12:4-8)

CULTURAL RELEVANCE

We constantly evaluate our ministry, seeking to be culturally relevant in order to maximize ministry effectiveness for Christ. (1 Corinthians 9:22)

MINISTRY EXCELLENCE

Since God gave his best, Jesus Christ, we seek to honor Him with our best.We constantly strive for excellence in all of our ministries. (Colossians 3:23-24)

MISSIONS & CHURCH PLANTS

Our purpose is to bring people to Jesus Christ and help them become fully committed followers of Him. We will do this: by sharing the Good News of Jesus with those in our own community, supporting both foreign and domestic ministries outside our church, and planting new churches where God leads. (Matthew 28:18-20)

UNITY

In matters of Biblical faith we have unity, in matters of opinion we have liberty, and in all things, we have love. (John 17)
